About BMI, WHtR, and Health Score
BMI (Body Mass Index) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. It categorizes you into underweight (<18.5), healthy (18.5–24.9), overweight (25–29.9), or obese (≥30). However, BMI has limitations—it doesn't account for muscle mass, fat distribution, or body frame size.
WHtR (Waist-to-Height Ratio) is a better indicator of visceral fat and health risks. A WHtR below 0.5 is ideal; above 0.5 indicates higher risk for conditions like heart disease and diabetes.
The Health Score (out of 100) combines BMI, WHtR, activity level, age, gender, and body frame size for a more holistic assessment:
- BMI (40 points): Adjusted for frame size.
- WHtR (30 points): Based on risk level.
- Activity Level (20 points): Reflects lifestyle.
- Age/Gender (10 points): Adjusts for physiological factors.
Score: >80 (Excellent), 60–80 (Good), <60 (Needs Improvement).
Always consult a healthcare provider for a comprehensive health assessment.
